Getting Clear

Finding clarity, without self-judgement or criticism, involves getting to know how - and why - your life patterns have been formed. We will examine your style of emotional expression, your history of conflict resolution, your ideas about success and failure, how you balance the competing needs of independence and connection, and how you define your sense of safety and value in the world.

Embracing Calm

We all experience situations that can trigger anxiety, anger, or hurt. The key is learning how to manage these sensations and reduce their intensity. You will identify the difference between knee-jerk reactions and conscious, intentional responses. I will teach you how to use self-awareness to feel calmer and emotionally regulated.  Having control over how you react to life is extremely empowering and feels great!

Building Confidence

The more you practice the power of awareness and choice, the stronger and more confident you will feel. We cannot eliminate negative feelings or challenging situations, but we can pay attention to our thoughts and emotions. Confidence grows each time you practice responding, versus reacting, to your own inner experience as well as to the external influences of family, friends, school, and community.

Therapy tailored to your needs

I offer personalized support in the form of individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Both in-person and tele-health sessions are available.

Eliminate the communication patterns that destroy trust: Criticism; Contempt; Stonewalling; and Defensiveness (Dr. John Gottman). Most of us learned these styles in our families, and they can be unlearned!

Family communication can be fraught with tension, leading to the same destructive patterns that challenge couples. We will look at the dynamics of your family from each member’s perspective, with an eye toward decreasing conflict and struggle.
